Community outreach to seniors

Creatonomy has helped coordinate community outreach efforts for an ambitious neighborhood initiative on Milwaukee’s lower eastside. It aims to integrate senior citizens with their community by informing seniors about programs that cater to the active older adult. At the same time, it will increase public awareness of long-term care and engage the local business community in developing a senior-friendly neighborhood.

Here is some information about how to succeed with similar grassroots campaigns.

Q: What has Creatonomy’s role been?
A: Creatonomy is a partner in this initiative and has worked with community organizations to get this project underway. We have served as consultants on the initiative, as well as doing some of the work to get the ball rolling, including creating and launching a neighborhood newsletter for seniors that continues to be produced by community partners.

Q: How do you introduce new concepts through a grassroots campaign?
A: Long-term care is a new concept for many and is often misunderstood. Many people assume long-term care is only provided in nursing homes, but the fact is that most long-term care takes place outside of nursing homes.
