Carol Ann Scaife, 52, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, as a result of an automobile/pedestrian accident. Carol was actively involved with WHPRMS and claimed nearly ten years as a board member. Most recently, she was the board's secretary of two years and the Connections editor, also for two years. In the early 1990s, she was again the Connections editor and secretary and also acted as treasurer. Carol became a WHPRMS Fellow in 2002.

The following are comments from WHPRMS board members that were given to Carol's husband at her funeral service on November 28:

“My heart breaks for Carol's family...such a tragedy for such a lovelywoman. She will be missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to have known her.”
— Kathy Schultz, UW Hospital and Clinics, Madison

“Please give her family my condolences as well. You are correct. Carol was about as fine a person as God could make. What a loss for all of us, St. Vincent hospital and especially her family.”
— Tamalyn Powell, BVK, Milwaukee

“I am just sitting here in shock and sadness. What a wonderful person and friend Carol has been to all of us - never a bad word said about anyone or anything - always so positive and willing to do anything to help and even to take on another board position when she had already done more than her share.”
— Dave Mueller, Riverview Hospital, Wisconsin Rapids

“What a shock. Carol was always helpful and such a nice person, it's hard to come to terms with this.”
— Tim Drinan, Ministry Health Care, Milwaukee

“I am so sad. She was such a wonderful person and I admired her so much.”
— Mary Kay Grasmick, Wisconsin Hospital Association, Madison

“What a terrible, terrible shock. I feel so bad for Carol's family.”
— Linda Pophal, Luther Midelfort-Mayo Health System, Eau Claire

“We lost a great friend Wednesday night. I think I can speak for the board in saying that over the years we have known no finer person than Carol. Please go give someone close to you a hug for Carol. I have.”
— Chuck Moore, Ad Aids, Inc., La Crosse
